Best times to post on Social media

To make the most of your social media we have put together a few tips on how to optimise your presence – in this post we discuss when best to post your content… please note this info is a guide only and can change!

Instagram

Best Times to post on Instagram by Day of the Week:

  • Sunday: 5:00 p.m.
  • Monday: 7:00 p.m. & 10:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 3:00 a.m. & 10:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 5:00 p.m.
  • Thursday: 7:00 a.m. & 11:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 1:00 a.m. & 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 12:00 a.m. & 2:00 a.m.

Statistically Wednesday is the best day to post for engagement. Monday is the least.

Whilst the stats read to be posting on Wednesday, in order to maximise engagement and exposure, you should be posting consistently multiple times a week at the same time each week. To many people, their weeks don’t always allow to post at specific times every day or over weekends. Luckily, there are apps that help you schedule posts to go up so you can prepare posts, and post at specific times and specific dates. Later.com is a good place to try a free version.

Facebook

Best Times to post on Facebook:

  • Weekdays 1:00 p.m. & 4:00 p.m.
  • Weekends 12:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m.

As with all social media, having a consistent upload schedule is key. Facebook has a scheduling option when posting, which makes it easy to post at certain times. We would note that links will need to be active in order to create a call to action button when scheduling the post. If the website page needs to be uploaded later, then the click through button will not appear on your post.

Twitter

Best times to post on twitter:

  • Wednesday at noon and 5–6 p.m.
  • Monday–Friday at 12–3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
  • Experiment with 2–3 a.m., 6–7 a.m., and 9–10 p.m.

When to tweet in general to increase retweets and clickthroughs:

  • 5–6 p.m.
  • Noon specifically
  • 3 p.m.

Twitter can be made a lot easier to manage with tools such as tweetdeck. For businesses it’s an essential. With Twitter you can schedule posts to go up as and when you want them. To properly manage them, use Tweetdeck.
